Obituary of Roger North

The family of (Douglas) Roger North is saddened to announce his passing earlier this year on April 7th, 2025.

Roger was born in Wells, BC, on March 30th, 1947. Roger moved with his family to Ladner, BC, during his teen years, but he returned to Quesnel in 1966 with his wife Linda (nee - Evans). The young couple met in Vanderhoof while Roger was visiting family.

Roger and Linda shared 50 years together before her passing on Dec 13th, 2016. They had 3 children - Shawn (wife - Margaret, sons - Aaron & Jarod), Trent (wife - Shelley, daughter - Alysha, granddaughter Abby, step-children - Rachel & Jordan), and Tanya (late husband - Glenn, son - Kyle, daughter - Lalia).

Roger worked for BC Hydro for several decades until he retired in the early 2000s. Always busy, Roger took a job with Walmart for 'something to do' where he worked until Linda got sick.

Roger had a strong sense of community and spent many years volunteering. He was a Cub Scout Leader and Little League Coach when his boys were younger. Roger and Linda spent many years involved with the Barlow Creek Rec Club. He was a proud member of the Quesnel Search and Rescue for many years, taught first aid with Canadian Red Cross, and was the head of the Provincial Emergency Program for a time. After retiring from BC Hydro, he was an active member of the Power Pioneers.

Roger was an avid outdoors man in his younger years and could often be found feeding the local birds and animals. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that any donations be made in Roger's honour to your local SPCA, Search and Rescue, or Power Pioneers.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, August 16th, 2025 from 1-3pm at the Barlow Creek Hall in Quesnel, BC.
