Obituary of Toby Oakes
It is with very heavy hearts that the family of Toby Oakes announce his sudden passing on April 25.
Toby was born October 1,1969 in Quesnel to Jim and Nancy Oakes. He was raised on a cattle farm in Moose Heights and loved his animals - from his first horse Brandi to numerous dogs, cats and other creatures over the years ( especially his dog Luke).
Toby had a talent for music and loved being apart of different bands over the years as a bass player. Most notably is the former band “Hot Rash.” Although Toby dabbled in vocals, the bass is where his his passion shone, the strings came together naturally and beautifully.
Toby is survived by his daughters Darian and Delany whom he loved dearly, his father Jim, sister Coralee and many aunts, uncles and cousins. Predeceased by his mother Nancy in 2021 which was a very difficult time.
Toby was funny, smart, creative, hardworking, compassionate with the biggest heart. He loved his family and friends deeply and will forever be missed and loved by all those who knew him.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday May 17th from 1-3 at Quesnel Seniors Centre. Let us come together to honour this remarkable person.
