Obituary of Anders Goran Eriksson
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Anders Göran Eriksson, who left us on June 12, 2025, at Dunrovin Park Lodge – Maple House.
Anders was born on October 30, 1945, in Östersund, Sweden, to Jonas and Bibbi Eriksson. He was the youngest of four siblings. In 1965, Anders graduated from high school and completed his compulsory military service, which lasted 18 months.
In 1967, encouraged by his father, Anders immigrated to Canada to pursue a career in the forest industry. He began studying Forestry at UBC in the fall of 1968. To support himself, he took forestry jobs and drove a taxi before securing permanent employment with West Fraser Mills in 1971. Over his 34-year career there, Anders held many key positions that required frequent travel, until his retirement in 2005.
On August 16, 1969, Anders married his high school sweetheart, Ingrid, in Östersund, Sweden. She later immigrated to Canada, and together they began their lives in Vancouver before eventually settling in Quesnel. They had two sons—Eric (Chelsey), born in 1973, and Dan (Theresa), born in 1976—who were raised on Fanslau Road.
Anders was an avid golfer and curler. He loved skiing, fishing, and going for walks, and he found joy in woodworking projects in his garage on Fanslau Road and at The Hill House.
Anders is survived by his loving wife, Ingrid; his son, Eric; and his grandchildren Jordan, Kalista, Hannah, Slade, and Leland. He is also remembered by his daughters-in-law, Chelsey and Theresa.
The family lost Dan unexpectedly on May 2, 2017. Anders was the last surviving member of his family on the Eriksson side.
The family extends heartfelt thanks to all the doctors, nurses, and staff who cared for Anders at Dunrovin Park Lodge – Maple House.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Anders’ memory may be made to the Alzheimer Society.
A Celebration of Life will be announced at a later date.
