Obituary of "Jack" John Bruce Nelson
It is with heavy heart that we announce the passing of John (Jack) Bruce Nelson, on November 20, 2017, at G.R. Baker Memorial Hospital.
Jack was a many faceted individual. Whether you met him through his work, his church (United), his community endeavours, his newspaper articles, the pages of his two books, or a chance encounter you soon discovered he always spoke his mind, and you had better look out!
However, he was very much a "people person", and it didn't matter who you were, or where you were, you were important to him, and that's the feeling he always left you with.
You could not have asked for a better freind, and we could not have asked for a better husband, father, grandfather, or brother.
To quote a line from his wife, Vicki's Editor's Comments, in the book he wrote (and she edited), A Baker's Dozen, "Life with Jack has been anything but dull - sometimes frustrating/sometimes maddening, but never dull." He was dearly loved and will be missed.
We thank Northern Health/G.R. Baker Memorial Hospital and the wonderful team there for all their care and support for Jack this year. We also thank all the family and friends who have helped in one way or another, especially bystopping for visits, throughout the year.
A "Celebration of Life" is planned for March 31st, 2018 at 1:00 PM, Rom Malmas, formerly of Quesnel and Williams Lake, has kindly agreed to preside over the service at St. Andrew's United Church.
Following the service, a Reception Tea will be held at the Legion Hall from 2:00 PM - 4:00 PM, all are invited.
We suggest that In-Lieu of flowers donations be made in Jack's name to the Canadian Diabetes Association, the Heart & Stroke Foundation, St. Andrew's United Church, or to a charity of your choice.
