I am Dorothy Findlay's youngest daughter, Deb, also the youngest sister of Dian Jenner. Dian let me know about Auntie Jennie's passing and I am glad I can take this opportunity to express my condolences with you all.
Being the youngest, I don’t have a lot of memories of the family being together. Those I do have are all in Gramma and Grampa Dumbeck's house eating Gramma's wonderful food and laughing together. I also remember Auntie Alice and Auntie Jennie being at our house and how much like my mom they were. It was like having 3 moms. Good memories.
Memories are all we have left of the clan now but as long as we have memories, each one of them will live on in our hearts forever. Please know that I am thinking of you all at this sad time.

The Rose Beyond the Wall
Near a shady wall a rose once grew,
Budded and blossomed in God's free light,
Watered and fed by the morning dew,
Shedding it's sweetness day and night.
As it grew and blossomed fair and tall,
Slowly rising to loftier height,
It came to a crevice in the wall
Through which there shone a beam of light.
Onward it crept with added strength
With never a thought of fear or pride,
It followed the light through the crevice's length
And unfolded itself on the other side.
The light, the dew, the broadening view
Were found the same as they were before,
And it lost itself in beauties new,
Breathing it's fragrance more and more.
Shall claim of death cause us to grieve
And make our courage faint and fall?
Nay! Let us faith and hope receive--
The rose still grows beyond the wall,
Scattering fragrance far and wide
Just as it did in days of yore,
Just as it did on the other side,
Just as it will forever-more.

Our thoughts are with you all. To think about Aunty Jennie brought back memories of going to Dragon Lake with family . Her laugh was her own and I remember the sound from my childhood. It seemed the times we were together as family were always a noisy, happy time. The last of an era...
