Obituary of Rick Johnston

 Rick was born March 5th 1948 in Quesnel British Columbia, the son of Christine and Dinty Johnston. Rick grew up in a family of five children; Brothers Bob and Ken, and sisters Gloria and Gwen.  During his early years, Rick learned that he had an endless passion for nearly all sports.  As a testament to his determined character, he would always endeavor to be the very best he could.  Even in a fun game of ping pong Rick would make sure that he was fully warmed up and was known to stay up late into the night practicing his swing.  Rick's love for sports was rivalled by only one other, which happened upon a fire drill back in 1960 at Quesnel High.  That was the day that he fell in love at first sight with his wife to be of 52 years.

     Beth and Rick had two children, Laurel and Blaine.  The family of four moved to several communities from the Lower Mainland to the Okanagan and Alberta  while Rick built his resume. His children remember this time as a great adventure but we're excited even more when they learned that they would be returning home to Quesnel so that Rick could help with the family business.  

     Rick was so very honoured and proud to work side by side his brothers and his father in the GM Dealership in Quesnel. Upon taking the role of general manager Rick worked tirelessly with his brothers to continue to grow a successful business. Nothing gave Rick more pride then being able to be a part of something so very special.  

     For those of you that know Rick it is likely you would agree upon one thing. That Rick Johnston could light up a room with his warm smile, quick wit, and amazing laugh.  Rick was also well known to keep a room entertained with his guitar and a song or just a good joke.  

   Most importantly, Rick was known to be an incredibly generous and loving father, husband and grandfather whose love never faltered.  He will be forever missed and always in our hearts.
