Aunty Flo
It is with a heavy heart that we say good bye to such a wonderful lady.
We’ve always known her as “Aunty Flo”. I was quite old before I found out that “Aunt” was an honorary title as she wasn’t actually related. To me, that made her even more special. We chose to have her and Uncle Lloyd in our family and they chose us.
I can’t remember a time in my life where Aunty Flo wasn’t a part of it. She was my Mom’s best friend and she loved us as her own.
Together Mom and Aunty Flo taught us what best friends do. They did everything together, they even dressed alike at times. They always looked out for each other and had each other’s backs.
Aunty Flo seemed to know when Mom needed her. If Mom needed help, she never had to ask. Aunty Flo would just show up, no questions asked. My Mom would do the same for her. They would shop til they dropped and spend holidays together. And God knows they talked on the phone a lot! When Teresa, Keith and I had something special to celebrate, she was always there and was just as proud of us as Mom.
Even when she had to deal with tough times, I never heard Aunty Flo complain. She just dealt with it with compassion and grace. A strong example of what is good in this world. We are all better off for having had Aunty Flo in our lives.
I take some comfort in the fact that Mom and Aunty Flo are now together again. The special bond they shared is one you might not see many times in a life time.
We were not able to make it to the celebration of her life but we had our own celebration dinner and shared our precious memories of a lady that we loved with all our hearts.
Love Rick, Teresa, Keith and Ed Wutke

I have so many childhood memories of this lovely lady and her family living next door to me. Such a beautiful soul. You will be forever missed. Heaven has received a new angel. RIP Mrs. Horton.

Grandma Horton was the most amazing person. I remember walking with her as a duty teacher at Barlow Creek. She was someone you just wanted to be around. I also lived in the same neighborhood and when we biked past we would often stop and see her; she always had a snack or a drink that you could enjoy and talk to her about the good old days or just what we have been up to. Grandma will be missed by many and we will always have a special place in our heart for her.
