Obituary of Ida Maria Celli
Our beloved Mother, Ida Maria Celli, was the very essence of Love, Compassion and Beauty. She was dearly loved by all of her family and friends. She loved to cook her delicious Italian food for her family gathered together every Sunday and Holidays. Hard work and determination characterized a very strong loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and wife.
Ida was born in a beautiful small village, Capodacqua, Italy, on November 7, 1928. She had 3 sisters and 3 brothers. As children they worked on the family farm while going to school. From all of her many stories, they worked very hard but they also had many wonderful memories of good times and family love that stayed with our mother until the end of her life.
Ida married our father, Silvio Celli, December 1946. She moved to Carrufo, our father’s village, where she continued to work hard on the farm and at home. In Italy they had 3 children, 1 daughter and 2 sons, another daughter born in Canada.
Ida with her 3 children immigrated to Canada July 1961. She came to join her husband in Quesnel. She worked hard to learn English and a new way of life in a new country.
For many years Ida worked as a cook in O’Hara’s Café, Nancy’s Café and the Billy Barked Inn. She loved her work and was happy feeding many people.
Ida kept her determination for life to the last day. She lived in Dunrovin for the past 3 years of her life. In the last days she was peaceful, surrounded by her loving family. We will always keep her in our hearts and will miss her for the rest of our lives.
Funeral Mass for Ida will be held at St. Ann's Catholic Church on Saturday, February 15, 2020 at 11:00 a.m.
Following the Mass, Ida will be laid to rest in the Quesnel Cemetery with her beloved husband, Silvio.
A reception tea will follow at the Royal Canadian Legion from 12:30-3:30 p.m.
