Joe Weremy

Obituary of Joe Weremy

The Weremy family is sad to announce the passing of Joe Weremy on June 2nd of 2020 at the age of 86. He was born on Oct 25th of 1933 in Manville Ab, and spent his youth in Edmonton Ab.

It was his avid love of sports, primarily baseball, as an accomplished pitcher, that led to him to spend many years in Alberta, eventually ending in Peace River, where he met his wife and started a family.

In 1970 the family moved to Quesnel, B.C..  Joe worked many years in retail sales, before retiring as a night watchman for West Fraser Mills.
He was a player, coach, and fan of local and national sports, so much that well into his seventies he was still playing slow pitch with the “Old Growth” team. Playing senior ball, coaching Little League and Babe Ruth, coaching rep hockey, and watching many of the talented local youth compete brought him great joy.

A love of the outdoors, especially fishing and hunting, gave the family many great memories.

Joe and Carol were married very close to 57 years. His siblings Ernest, June, Adelene, and Georgina had all predeceased him. He will be missed by his children, Joanne( Don ), Shannon( Frank ), Robert, Kevin( Nicole ), David( Dawn ), and grand children Warren, Nicole, Brooke, Gavin, Dayne( Quinn ), Bradi ( Scott ) and 5 great grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Quesnel and District Hospice Palliative Association.  Box 4537 Quesnel, BC V2J-3J8.

A celebration of life will be held Sat. Aug. 15th, COVID 19 permitting, in the Weremy back yard, from 2-5 pm. If you are planning to attend please let Carol, Rob, Kevin, or David know by Aug 8th.
