When Jean retired my gift to her was to teach her how to play Scrabble. She took turns by herself on her board in her home. Jean put aside all secretary spelling to master the game which she did. Only in Scrabble was she my opponent otherwise she was my mentor.

Some of my favourite memories of grandma are from when I was babysitting her after she had her hip surgery. We had egg McMuffins for breakfast and showed me how to live “bachelor style” (using paper towel instead of plates lol) she showed me how to write cheques. She also woke me up at 6am because her toilet was leaking and I quickly became her plumber! We had some great conversations during that time. She told me stories about her life and I got to learn about grandpa. We grew so close from that and I am so grateful that I had the opportunity to care for her. She was so real and genuine, always honest and spoke her opinion. She never cared about what others thought of her and was always up for a laugh about her mermaid car. I, along with everyone else, will miss her tremendously, especially around Christmas time because she has spent so many Christmases with us. But at least now she can go fishing with grandpa again and can say hi to Chelsey for me. From what I knew grandma wasn’t a very emotional person but she said when she found out about Chelsey’s passing it made her cry, she said she thought about her often. Maybe Chelsey will dye grandmas hair up there (something we used to do as kids) grandma always told me how much she enjoyed that. I love you grandma.
