Obituary of Christina Dickson
In Loving Memory of Christine “Tena” Dickson (nee Moar)
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our mother, sister, auntie, grandmother and great grandmother Christine “Tena” Dickson (nee Moars). Tena passed peacefully at GR baker Memorial Hospital on August 12, 2021 at 90 years of age with members of her family by her side. She was predeceased by her husband Arthur “Art” on March 22, 2010.
Tena was born on November 21, 1930 in Kinosota, Manitoba the third eldest of 11 children born to Robert and Claudia Moar and grew up on the family farm in Kinosota. On February 10, 1951 she married Art Dickson and moved to British Columbia on May 5, 1952 where Art was employed in a logging camp. They had 4 children – Danniel, Barbara, Cathryn (Dan) and Michael (Cathy).
Tena was a wonderful cook and loved to cook for family and friends. She was especially appreciated by her many family members in Manitoba who loved the many jars of canned Kokanee salmon she sent their way. She was an avid knitter and spent many hours on the knitted creations she so freely distributed to those in need. She loved to listen/watch baseball games and was a loyal follower of the Toronto Blue Jays.
Although she was faced with health issues in recent years, she was fortunate in having the unwavering support of Cathy and Dan who were there for her, whether it be at her suite in Quesnel or at their farm nearby.
Because of current restrictions a celebration of her life is being planned for a later date. At the request of her family, in lieu of flowers, friends who so desire may make donations in Tena’s memory to their local SPCA or the Heart & Stroke Foundation.
