Condolences to the family. I knew gene as a Agrologist colleague attending many Cattlemen’s meetings with him and helping provide programming information to the kersley farmers institute where he was usually leading the group with his kind positive voice. My favourite memories though are having lunch with Gene and Betty at the farm and discussing anything production related while wandering their gardens. He will be missed!

Please accept our most sincere condolences. Gene was always the first to call to check on friends and family, offer help or just to stay in touch. His sincere commitment to community, friends and family was valued greatly and we learnt much from him. As a knowledge keeper and the glue that kept family links intact, he will be very missed. Love from Rob and Conni Haley.

My condolences to the family. I remember him as a good man and the best principal at QSS. How he put up with the juvenile behavior of me and some of my peers I will never know. He would have been pleased (I assume) that I ended up in the teaching profession.

My thoughts to Gene:
It is with a sad heart that I heard of Gene’s passing earlier today, Dec. 16, 2021. Over the past number of years, I have lost a lot of people who I looked upon as people that have made a difference in my life and who have modeled me to the person that I was to become and whom I am today.
My Dad, DA Holley, was more than just a father. He taught me that a handshake and a honest day’s work was worth more than anything. My dad’s closest friend, along with a couple that I never knew, was Tom Moffatt, and he taught me about the value of true friendship between two men who would have done anything for each other. As I young boy, I marveled at the Gassoff boys who came to the house to help at haying time, even though they were professional hockey players, but who came, along with Albert, because they were friends. Harry (a little gruff) and especially Rosie Gassoff (a saint) who taught me that a little religion, albeit served with Borscht and perogies, was not a bad thing. There are many more such as Frank Cushman (true outdoor man), Chester Cotter (music influence) and others that I have in scrap books but would like to thank them all.
As any regular young man, I had some issues, but in school I did not tread far from the norm, more in fear from what went would happen at home, but more in fear of embarrassing my dad. Gene was my high school principal. He was the man who maybe saw some potential in me in early as in grade 8 he advised me to take Agriculture. I though I knew a little about the farm but was soon to learn that I knew nothing but was an eager student and excelled at dissection. Who knew? It was at the end of my grade 9 year when Gene suggested that I run for student council. I had never thought of myself as a leader of anything but with Celia Lazzarin as my campaign manager and a slogan “You can’t have Christmas all year long, but you can have Holley”, I won.
My life took a change in grade 10 as my parents divorced but school was a constant. Gene was always there for me with school help and personal help if I chose to ask. When I skipped out for the first time, he called me in and asked me what my plan was to tell my dad? I said I did not know but he replied, just be honest. That was some of the best advice that I ever got and have tried to pass that along through the years, both in and out of teaching. One thing is that he never asked if I needed anything, yet he was always there. I had a wonderful year in QJS at that time and I looked forward to coming to his office to ask advice on some issues and he was always there and always taking the time for me. I truly believe that he is the main reason that I decided to become teacher.
I graduated University in my loves, Music and PE, and started teaching in Houston, BC, newly married and soon to be a father. When it was time to leave Houston, I only applied in two places. Gene was the first one to phone me and offer me a job at Maple Drive. I was overwhelmed that he would phone me personally and the rest is history. My young family and I settled in Bouchie Lake, meeting another wonderful group of supporters and friends, but I spent the next 6 years working with Gene. My first job in Houston introduced to a man named Bill Arkinstall, a teacher’s principal. This support repeated itself with Gene. Every Monday, after whatever was going on, there was always a note in a teacher’s mailbox thanking you for all that you did, every time. It was awesome! I understood that he always had my back, always would battle on my behalf against parents and would always talk to me first and take my side. Once we moved out of Quesnel, after Gene had retired, that support would be okay but never the same and I would miss the personal time that we had. I would not be able to find again that support and personal support as I moved on in my teaching career as the way those first two men who would support, mold, and mentor me that way they did. Neither missed anything that went on in and around the school, no matter weekend tournaments, concerts or even fundraising events, just to check in. Gene was also a great family man, who, along with Betty, hosted Christmas sleigh rides and events that created a family with a staff.
A wonderful man, a teacher’s principal, the principal really was your pal. I will miss you Gene and your wonderful advice, friendly smile, and your love of family, both in and out of the classroom.
With Affection: A grateful teacher forever: Ken Holley

So very sorry to hear about Mr. Pascuzzo's passing. Stan and I both had him as a principal. He was a gentleman, a legitimately good guy. Really respect his life of volunteerism and am challenged to be more active as well. Rest In Peace, a life well lived.
