Obituary of Jean Datoff
Mildred Jean (Jean) Datoff, 90, passed away February 21, 2022 at Dunrovin Park Lodge in Quesnel, BC.
Jean was born July 9, 1931 at her grandparents’ home in Milburn Lake, BC. Jean was the second of six children, whom she helped raise with her father Arnold Burton Rawling and stepmother Grace Rawling mostly in the Milburn Lake area.
At the age of 18 Jean married the love of her life, G. Donald Datoff on May 14, 1949 in Quesnel, BC. They raised their three children, two daughters and a son and went on to foster more than 53 children.
Jean shared a love of the outdoors with her husband, Don, and every summer they spent much of their time camping and fishing with Jean usually being sure to catch the biggest fish. In her spare time Jean loved to spend time with her children, grandchildren, gardening, knitting and crocheting.
Jean spent her life caring for others. She had a big heart full of love for her family and friends and she wasn’t afraid to call a spade a spade. She would definitely speak her mind.
Jean was predeceased by her husband of 63 years, Don; her only son Bruce; granddaughter Rachel; her father Arnold; stepmother Grace; her sister Joan, brothers Larry, Lynn and stepbrother Ken.
Jean is survived by her daughters Donna and Debbie; brother Arnold; brother and sister-in-law Andy and Sheila Datoff; sister-in-law Nina Olausen; sister in law Carol Rawling; 10 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Although Jean will be dearly missed by all who knew her, we take comfort in knowing that she was met with open arms and most likely a fishing rod by her husband and son.
Jean will be reunited with her husband Don and son Bruce at her celebration of life to be held at the Quesnel Cemetery on May 14, 2022 at 1:00 pm.
