Michael and Marion Maier took me in as a young man when I had few other options. My new job at School District #28 would eventually allow me to get established on my own. Later though I would work for West Fraser in their computer department. This led to several jovial banters with Michael about mill workers vs us office workers. Michael served as a congregation elder for Jehovah's Witnesses for many years. I recall one funny moment where I was able to kid Michael. A exuberant elder in the Prince George area would often be featured on our District Assemblies. When this elder moved elsewhere in BC I suggested to Michael that he now would have to take over that exuberant style of presentation. Of course this was just the opposite of Michael's kind mild manner.
Not too long ago I called Michael to see what arrangements Jehovah's Witnesses were making for their special once-per-year religious service normally held around the Jewish Passover. Although I've left the Jehovah's Witness faith many years ago I still make an effort to attend this special meeting. Our conversation was brief, but I was glad to exchange a few words. Michael said "we've grown old" as if to suggest such was somehow unexpected yet a privilege.
My life has been enriched by knowing the Michael and the rest of family.
"The span of our life is 70 years, Or 80 if one is especially strong. But they are filled with trouble and sorrow; They quickly pass by, and away we fly." - Psalms 90:10

Uncle Mike always called me child. It didn’t matter how old I got. It always made me feel so special. He was the most gentle compassionate and kind man I have ever known. I remember as a child I always loved going to their place and the time we spent together. I miss him.

My Papa Mike was one of the most genuine people on this planet. He had immense love for his family, friends, and for his God Jehovah. Through that love, he cared deeply for mankind and showed respect and dignity to all he met. I am going to miss my Papa, but am glad I have so many happy memories to remember him by. Love to my family, and all our friends, for the care you have showed. Love you forever Papa.

I have many fond memories when I was a child tagging along with Uncle Mike and Auntie Marion going door to door, thinking how important I was to be delivering
The Awake and Watchtower. I didn't carry the faith with me through life but my love and respect for them never wavered..
My condolences Kathy, Terry, Mark and your families
Love Vic

It's hard to lose someone who meant so much to all of us and even harder that we can't all be together.
Everyday is one day closer to seeing you again in paradise.

I'm not sure what to say in the face of such a difficult loss. We never would have felt ready to say goodbye to someone as special as Micheal. He was an amazing person. I feel privileged to have known him. I will cherish the good times we had together. He will be deeply missed.
Praying for you xxx

My dad was everything I could have wished for in a loving kind parent. He adapted his own schedule and needs to look after me and help me. I remember with great fondness playing catch with him after school or playing tennis. He was generous to all and firmly believed that a helping hand at the right time made all the difference in the world - and he was right. Despite having incredible work skills and amazing mental capabilities he was humble and always maintained a low-profile. He enjoyed above all talking to people about God's purpose for mankind and how the Bible could provide practical solutions to every problem you could think of. He loved my mom and did his utmost to look after her needs. He was my dad and I am so proud to say that I am Michael Maier's son.
