Charlie was born to Hendrik and Leslie Keuning in The Netherlands on May 25th, 1946. The family immigrated to Canada in July, 1953 and ended up in Summerland, BC. School was not his favourite way of spending time, but hanging out with his friends and going fishing in the summer in Okanagan Lake, and sledding down the snowy cliffs at the Research Station in the winter was great. I remember the boys built the tallest snowman in our back yard one winter. He worked at the Brenda Mines in Peachland for many years as a shovel operator before it closed down operations. He worked at various locations in BC and Alberta managing senior's residences with Edith Leclaire, and then as a security officer at the Billy Barker Casino in Quesnel for the past 20 years until it was time to retire. He will be missed by his children, Sherry, of Penticton, BC, and Dean, of Swan Hills, AB and his sister and brother in law, Maurice and Bonnie Fretz, of Quesnel, BC.
