Thoughts of you pop up and still wash over me in waves, especially when I am in my studio or in nature and today was one of those days. Beautiful art in nature as spring transitions the landscape and light, gives time to pause and reflect... and miss your light in this world.

Judy was so incredibly generous with her time and knowledge. I saw one of her paintings in an interesting frame and reached out to her to find out more about it. That kicked off a friendship and mentorship that I will cherish forever. Here are a couple photos of our collaborations and art show. A distinct memory I have of Judy is the impact she had on my children (6&7 at the time). She noticed a splatter painting my son did on a cheerio box - she told him some very famous artists painted the same way - his chest puffed up and he was immediately so proud. The next visit she brought pictures and examples and he was in awe. She did that, shifted views and inspired others. You will be so dearly missed by us my beloved friend. Xoxo

My sincere condolences on the loss of Judith, a truly good person and a wonderful artist. I met Judith at an Images and Objects art conference in BC. Her work was so beautiful. I purchased a piece titled Mother’s Pearls. Visitors to my home are always so interested in the imagery and methods. I treasure it and the memory of our friendship. I am so very sorry for your loss. I didn’t know Judith well, but she was such a pillar of strength and support for me after the passing of my sister Sylvia Regehr Graham. They were fellow artists in Quesnel and often worked together on various creative projects. One story that comes to mind which Sylvia told me about was when Judith and her submitted proposals for funding for art exhibitions, and they were rejected. They made an agreement, and I quote: “ when we were both rejected, we would console ourselves by getting together and eating cake and then we would laugh about it.” I envision Judith and Sylvia now, eating cake together for old times sake.
Judith was such an incredibly beautiful and dynamic woman who touched many lives with her passion and energy. May her spirit and zest for life continue to live on in her art and in those who were blessed by her presence.

Judith was one of the first artists I met when I moved to BC. Judith was so warm and encouraging and held so much belief in me as a young curator. I will never forget her.

Judy and I were friends in the ‘80s and early ‘90s, when we worked in Special Needs Education for the Vancouver School Board, she as a nurse and me as a teacher, first in segregated settings then in integrated ones. She had such empathy, wisdom and caring. Her wisdom was also demonstrated when she decided to attend the Emily Carr School of Art and then later to marry Mike - what an amazing and wonderful life she has had since then! She will be deeply missed.

What an enormous joy it was to meet Judith while we were all living in Chile. I has the pleasure of working with her to plan some of her travels and later to enjoy the beauty and remoteness of Taharti with Judith and Mike. One of her artworks hangs in our dining room in Australia.and I think of her often.
Wendy.

I came to know Judith primarily through her wonderful art work, but as time passed I came to realize that her greatest gifts were kindness, empathy, and a great curiosity and joy for life. I feel grateful to have known her as a friend.

When I think of Judith - I think of light. Her paintings reflected/refracted light in geometry and geography with a delicacy of colour. The fact is the light was really a reflection of Judith's soul, her intentions and passion. I feel fortunate to have spent some time with Judith, with Mike not far away, at Two Rivers Gallery openings, events and socials. Judith always made the trip and contributed with enthusiasm through a soft, yet convicted, voice.

I am honoured to have had the opportunity to have shared time, experience, and memories with Judith/Judy over the last 15+ Years through our shared love of Art. We connected during the annual environmental Art shows that was held every April in Prince George, and later I carried her work in my art gallery and hosted a full exhibition of her works from her time working in the north titled ‘Polar Perspectives’.
I was very saddened to hear of her passing and my sincere condolences to Mike. I’m grateful to have known her and will cherish her artwork that I have collected in recent years. She was a good and loving soul, and will be missed.

I considered Judith a mentor and a friend. She inspired me with her dedication to her art practice. I will miss our monthly visits where we talked about art and art making. I’m so thankful for the time we had together.

Judy and I met at their remote Taharti Home when I had ridden up by horseback..we connected right away and chatted about Art and Life. I couldn't believe that I had met such an interesting person in the middle of nowhere in such a random way. We did not connect often over the years but when we did it was always meaningful. We had just reconnected again over some environmental restoration and her artwork. So glad that we did, she was a bright light. Condolences to Mike and family.

Curious, generous of spirit, a gift of a neighbour. Savoured moments and views, large and small. Offered merriness. Strong but gentle too.
