It is with heavy hearts and a great sense of loss we announce the passing of our father Willie Grant McAuley. After more than two years of a brave and dignified fight with cancer Willie passed surrounded by his brother Clayton, son Mark, daughter-in-law Barb and the wonderful and compassionate care of the staff of the 3rd floor of GR Baker Memorial Hospital in Quesnel BC. on April 27.2023
Willie was born and grew up in Lunenburg NS. Willie worked many different jobs in his life. He was a fisherman, furniture salesman and flooring installer. Willie moved his family to British Columbia in his mid 30s. He worked in the lumber industry, installed flooring before becoming a commercial truck driver and hitting the open road, taking him all over the lower 48 US states.
If you knew Willie, you knew his greatest passion was cars!! Willie loved to restore old classics as much as he enjoyed doing smoke shows. If Willie wasn’t working on cars, he was organizing his annual Hixon car show or attending a show or a drag strip in the province during the summer. Willie also loved hunting and fishing.
Willie will always be remembered as the guy who could make you laugh with a funny story or a dirty joke or by just his twisted lip expression he was so well known for. Willie was a kind-hearted man who will be loved and missed by his children, his family and many friends he has had the pleasure of making over the years.
Willie is predeceased by his parents Allen & Dorothy McAuley. His beloved spouse of 30 years Nancy Bullinger. He is survived by his 2 sons, Mark (Barb), Mike (Amanda), daughter Tiffany and granddaughter Brittany. (Mark/Barb). Siblings; Leo (Bruce & Ted), Raymond (Bobby Jo, Bobby Ray & Holly), Jenny (Christine), Susan-(deceased 58), Wendy (Stacie & Kathleen), Clayton (Brittany), Kenneth-(deceased 61), Terry, and close friend Connie.
Willie will be missed by all that knew his name.
As I lay rubber down the street.
I pray for traction I can keep, but if I spin and
Begin to slide, Please God protect my ride.
Donations in Willies memory may be made to the cancer society.
