Obituary of Edward William Antypovich

On Friday, July 14, 2023 Edward William Antypovich loving husband and father, passed away at the age of 86.

Ed was born August 8, 1936 in North Battleford, Saskatchewan. Ed began his long career in logging working for his family’s Saw Mill in Mcleod Lake, BC.  During this time, he married his beautiful wife Lynn Hunter on April 17, 1964. Ed and Lynn had 3 sons Mike, John and Garth.

Ed, Lynn and the boys ventured out on their own in October, 1971. They purchased land in Dawson Creek, BC.  This move allowed Ed to develop his passion for horses.  With his family by his side, they all worked hard to build up a small cattle herd.  Horses were a major part of the operation as they were used to do all farm work and haying.

In 1993 Ed & Lynn sold their ranch and embarked on a new adventure in horse logging in the Quesnel area. They put down roots in Kersley, BC. During their time there, Ed retired from logging and worked 2 summers at Cottonwood House driving stage coach for the tourists. In 2002 Ed and Lynn completely retired so they tried their hand at the Gypsy way of life. They started this adventure in Hythe, Alberta and continued to Saskatchewan and on to New Brunswick. It wasn’t long and the drive to return to the trees, river and wildlife of the Quesnel area pulled them home.

Ed was all about work, but his family remembers his softer side. Lynn’s favorite memories are the years they spent horse logging.  Mike’s fond memory of his dad is the day Ed took Mike to the theatre where just the two of them sat and enjoyed a John Wayne movie and a bucket of popcorn.  John remembers when the boys were small how their dad would push up the snow so the boys would have their own toboggan hill, or the supper dad made them of waffles with brown beans on top.  Garth speaks of how Ed always welcomed them home; he would never turn anyone away.

Ed will be greatly missed by all those who knew him.

Ed was preceded in death by his father Alex, Mother Hilda, brother Vic, sisters Elsie Passmore and Doris Emerson.  He is survived by his wife Lynn, three sons Mike, John (Shani), Garth, his brother Walter (Marilyn) and several nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Enjoy The Ride Ed!
