Obituary of Ronald Frederick Thomson

Ron Thomson was born in Quesnel BC, on June 11 1947, to Fred and Doris Thomson where he remained until his passing on July 29, 2023.

He is survived by his wife Darlene, son Dustin (Amber), grandsons Karsen and Ryder, siblings Jeanette Kimmie and Margaret Blake, brother-in-law Korny Riediger, brother- in- law Bob (Lynn) Millar, sister-in-law Heather Cotterill, as well as many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his parents and his sister Dorothy Riedeger.

Ron contracted polio at the age of 6, which affected his right arm.  Ron was able to overcome this challenge and had to relearn how to use his left arm for all of his daily activities, something that he and the family were very proud of. 

Ron had a successful career as a autobody painter for over 48 years, and was well known to many in Quesnel for his excellent paint work on numerous vehicles during his time at B&A Autobody.

He and his wife Darlene were married in Quesnel on July 18, 1975 where they remained together for 48 years.  Together they had one son, Dustin, who was born on April 22, 1977.  During the years Ron was a very active father, being involved in both minor hockey as a coach, and soccer as a coach and equipment facilities manager for a number of years.  Ron took these roles on with pride and was well respected and liked in both.

Ron and his wife had a passion for the outdoors, something that they shared together with their son as a family.  Some of their happiest times together included numerous drives in the bush on the weekend, or numerous fishing and camping trips with other family as well over the years.

Ron was a friendly and kind, gentle, caring person to all who knew him.  Most of all he was a loving husband, and a very proud, loving and supportive father, as well as a proud grandfather in his later years.  He will be remembered for his truly kind loving spirit, and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
