Obituary of Shirley Clara Lauzé

Shirley Clara Lauzé (nee Schooley)

Shirley came into this world with a smile in her eyes and music in her heart, and all those blessed to have been touched by her felt her warmth and heard her song.
Born to Grace Irene Tamblyn and Herbert Horatius Schooley on January 9, 1936, in Bowsman, MB. Shirley was the eighth of nine children. She was ever popular throughout her school years, winning singing contests and awards, including being named valedictorian of her graduating class. After graduation Shirley moved to The Pas, MB, to train as a lab technician at St. Anthony’s Hospital. She met Gerald Paul Lauzé in August of 1954, married him in October, and loved him all the days of her life. As is often the case with true love, six children followed in quick succession. Together they raised their family in The Pas.
Shirley, with an adventuresome nature and an entrepreneurial spirit, took on the world of business with Shirl’s Style Shop, Shirl’s Boutique, King Koin Laundry, and Voyageur Restaurant and Gas Bar. Shirley loved to curl, and enjoyed years of Bonspiels and the parties that followed. Playing Bridge was another passion that often kept her up till the early hours of the morning. Summers were reserved for the cabin on Clearwater Lake and the creating of memories to last a lifetime.
She treasured her family and her friends, fine food, fine whiskey, and not-so-fine cigars.  She loved a good party, a good book, and a good cry.  But, more than anything, Shirley loved to laugh…this was her gift to us all.
Shirley will be deeply missed by her children
Cindy Houston of Calgary AB. Lance (Cyndi) Lauzé of Vanderhoof B.C. Kelly Howe, Pat Lauzé and Todd (Pen) Lauzé of Beaumont AB. Kip Lauzé of Langley B.C. Former Son In-Law Bruce Perry of Kelowna B.C.
Grandchildren Shauna (Ryan), David (Katie), John (Nicole), Jordy (Amanda), Jeff (Brenda), Aubree (Decody), Derek (Jen), Stevie (Scott), Cale, Lierin (Daniel), Sienna, Makayla, and Cody.
She will be lovingly remembered by 28 Great-Grandchildren as well as sister Joyce Womack of North Carolina. Sisters In-Law Carol (Fred), Kay, Daisy, Rhonda and Lou. She was a special aunt to Sharon, Linda, Tammy, Shawn and numerous nieces and nephews.
She will be missed by her dear friend, and companion, Brian Campbell of Quesnel B.C.
Shirley was predeceased by her parents, husband Gerald, Son In-law Brian Houston and Daughter In-Law Sharon McKee. Brothers Frank, Harold, Clifton, Fred and Bob. Sisters Jean and Betty. Sister In-law Dot, Brothers In-law Bob, Ron, Cliff and Frank.
A graveside service will be held on Tuesday August 29th at 2pm at the Bowsman Manitoba Cemetery. Officiating will be Reverend Kathy Highmoor.
