Obituary of Brenda Jean Lewis

Brenda (Brandt) Lewis, 60, went to dance and sing with her Lord and Savior while at home on September 23, 2023, after a long battle with health issues.

She was born in Chester, Montana, the second of four children of Loren and Willagene Brandt. She is survived by her father, Loren (Cindy), loving husband Daniel, four children, Brandon (Janet), Brianna, Andrew, Abby, and three grandchildren (Gabriel, Kai, Luca). She will be greatly missed by her siblings, Lori (Dan), Lynn (Shauna), Tania (Robin), and her many nieces and nephews. Her mother, Willagene, preceded her in death.

She graduated from Superior High School in 1981 and attended Northwest Bible College in Seattle. She lived in New York for a short time after leaving college and had many exciting stories from experiences like serving at the New York Deli. She returned to Superior, Montana, where she soon married Dan in 1986. They raised a beautiful family together over the next 37 years, residing in Montana, Oregon, Louisiana, and finally Canada. Brenda was incredibly talented in many ways and wore many hats with ease. She was a radio DJ, drama director, baker, educator, gardener, celebration planner, doting grandmother, cat mom, incredible multi-medium artist, world class vocalist, and so much more. She was passionate about serving and praising God, serving her community, reading every book in existence, decorating for each season with all the bells and whistles, making people feel special, music, missions, all things beautiful, and making the most delicious food possible. She loved to teach others, especially when it came to the arts, grammar and language, and culinary skills.

Her adventures took her from coast to coast, and she was so proud of everything she’d been a part of creating. Brenda believed anything was possible and was always striving to make it happen no matter what challenges arose. Anyone who met her will remember her for her infectious laugh, generosity, unforgettable hair, and her open arms for anyone who showed up at the door. She made friends with everyone she met, from grocery clerks to next door neighbors. Her family fondly remembers the people she frequently helped, which was a testament to her selflessness, fearlessness, compassion, and curiosity about everyone and everything.

In her later years, Brenda was never happier than when she was loving on her grandchildren, singing in the shower/car/kitchen/garden/store (everywhere), baking, cheering on her nieces and nephews in their many endeavors, and spending time outdoors.

A meal and music will be enjoyed during the celebration of Brenda's life. Please dress colorfully, casually, and comfortably. (But maybe no bathing or birthday suits...)

In lieu of flowers or cards, donations can be made to a local charity of your choice. Brenda frequently donated to the Salvation Army, womens' shelters, and animal shelters, among others.
