Obituary of Elizabeth Ann Neave

It is with saddened hearts that we announce the passing of Elizabeth Ann (nee Lammie) Neave on 9 February 2024.  She died peacefully surrounded by her family. 

Elizabeth's journey began on a farm in Drummore, Scotland, where she developed a strong work ethic and a deep appreciation for the beauty of nature. In 1968 she exchanged vows with her beloved Petrie and the following year, they set out on an adventure, moving to Canada with the intention of staying in Quesnel for just a few years.  However, they quickly fell in love with the welcoming community and breathtaking scenery.  Quesnel became their forever home, and Elizabeth poured her heart and soul into making it a better place for those who lived there.

Elizabeth's life was one of service and dedication. She earned her professional certification in Physiotherapy and devoted many years to helping others as a respected physiotherapist.  Her passion for improving the lives of children led her to become the Executive Director of the Child Development Center.

Beyond her professional endeavors, Elizabeth was deeply involved in her community. She was a cornerstone of the Rotary Club, where she served as President and worked tirelessly with the Student Exchange Program. 

Elizabeth's life was a tapestry woven with threads of adventure and compassion. In addition to her contributions to her community in Quesnel, she embarked on journeys that took her across the globe to visit family and experience new cultures. One of her most memorable experiences was traveling to Uganda, where she dedicated her time and energy to help build a school, leaving an indelible mark on the lives of the children she met.

Throughout her many adventures, Elizabeth remained rooted in her desire to learn and grow. She embraced new challenges with enthusiasm, exemplified by her determination to learn to skate as an adult. Never one to shy away from a new experience, she took skating lessons with gusto, embodying the spirit of lifelong learning and perseverance. Her passion for creativity was expressed through a variety of pursuits, particularly quilting, and her sewing room was a place of peace and joy.

A devout member of Northstar Church, Elizabeth's faith guided her throughout her life, providing her with strength and solace in times of joy and sorrow.

Elizabeth will be dearly missed by her husband Petrie, her sons Andrew and Graham, her daughter Lori, her son-in-law Craig, her daughters-in-law Tanya and Melinda, and her cherished grandchildren, Cora, Mairi, Jeremy, Claire and Elliot.  Her relationships with her family were treasured beyond measure.  She was a source of unwavering support and encouragement to her family, and her love knew no bounds.

Forever in our hearts, Elizabeth will be remembered for her unwavering love, her boundless kindness, and the countless lives she enriched. May her spirit live on in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know her.

In lieu of flowers, we ask that donations be made in her memory to the Quesnel Community Foundation.
