Obituary of Maureen Winnifred Ingstrup

Maureen Ingstrup passed away peacefully at Dunrovin Park Lodge on Wednesday, February 28, 2024 at the age of 86.  She is predeceased by husband Jens Ingstrup, and the beloved mother to Lavon Ingstrup (Kim).  Maureen is survived by two siblings, Duane and Lois.

Born in New Westminster, BC on April 19, 1937, she moved to Quesnel in 1964  and opened Jens’ Food Market with her husband which was in business for 32 years.  Maureen eventually purchased Caryall Books of which she was the owner and operator for 19 years.  She frequently said that running the bookstore were some of the best and happiest years of her life.  The daily interactions with people at the front of the store and visiting  at the back were moments that she cherished.  After the store closed she would frequently ask how past customers were doing; she was a people person.  Thank you to everyone who walked through the doors of Caryall Books and brightened her day. 

The memorial service will be held at Clayton’s Funeral Directors – 582 Front Street, Quesnel, on Saturday, June 1 at 1 – 3 pm.  In lieu of flowers, a donation to the Cancer Society in memory of Maureen would be appreciated.
