Obituary of Arleen Hettie Norn

Arleen Hettie Norn, age 70, passed away suddenly due to natural causes on the morning of March 22, 2024.

She was born August 8, 1953 in Quesnel, BC, where she happily spent her entire life.  Her family lived in Old Cinema, where she was the youngest of 6 children.  She spoke fondly of the days spent playing in Ahbau Creek and the Cottonwood River.  Her biggest love then was her horse.  She was even featured in the local paper as a young girl when her horse had twins.

Arleen had a great love for all animals.  This most likely came from her dad, who would bring home any orphaned animals he came across.  This included bear cubs and moose.  Old Cinema/Moose Heights was her favourite place to be and this sentiment was passed on to her daughters.  It was and is our “Happy Place”.

Arleen was a kind and loving soul who got along with most anybody, no matter what walk of life they may have come from.  She will be in our hearts and memories forever.

Arleen was predeceased by her husband Bryan Wayne Meagher in May of 1996.  They were married on October 19, 1968.  She was also predeceased by her parents, Wilf and Hettie Norn.

Arleen will be greatly missed by her daughters Ava Meagher and Colleen Meagher, her grandchildren Ryley Dumaine and Shawna (Jason) Dumaine, her siblings Colleen (Pete) Zanatta, Paul (Leona) Norn, Dan (the late Jan) Norn, Ted (Maureen) Norn, and Michael (Norma) Norn.

She will also be dearly missed by many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

An escorted cremation will take place at Clayton’s Funeral Home on Friday, April 5th at 9:00am.  No service will be held at this time.

In Lieu of flowers, donations may be made to an animal charity of your choosing in honour of Arleen.
