Obituary of Leslie John Delawski
It is with extreme sadness that we announce the passing of Les Delawski.
Born January 30th, 1950 in Kelvington, Saskatchewan to Pete and Mary Delawski, he was the first of four siblings, Lerry, Isabelle and Gayline. At the age of 6 he moved with his family to Quesnel and made his life there. In 1972 he married the love of his life Karen and they started their family in 1975, welcoming Michelle and in 1981 Kimberly.
Les spent most of his career as a skidder operator making many good friends over the years in the bush. He was a man that took great pride in his work and hobbies. Known as a ‘jack of all trades’, there was not much Les could not do.
He love to play bluegrass music and could play any instrument he picked up by ear. He spent his years living very fully including dog sled racing, time with his horses trail riding, camping and fishing with friends, saddlery and leatherwork, and restoring or building any number of things at home in his spare time.
His latest work included a cabin he constructed by hand and power saw from trees he logged and milled himself.
Les is survived by his wife of 52 years, Karen, daughters Michelle (Steve) and Kimberley (Garry), grandchildren Samantha, Madelyn, Ally, Hayden and Lidia, sister Gayline (Mike), special mention to his cousin Shawn (Trina) who was like a son, and his many other dear family members and friends.
He was predeceased by his father Pete and his mother Mary Day, brother Lerry and sister Isabelle.
At Les’ request there will be no service, in lieu of flowers donations can be made to the BC Children’s Hospital in his memory.
