Marianna Weiman
April 27, 1938 – August 31, 2024
A Smile of an Angel
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved Mother, Marianna Emily “Emelia” Weiman (nee Hutmacher), who left us peacefully on August 31, 2024, at the age of 86, at Dunrovin Park Lodge in Quesnel, BC, surrounded by her loving family.
Your smile was like the morning sun,
Warming hearts of everyone.
Though you’re gone, you’re light remains,
In every heart where love sustains.
Marianna was born April 27, 1938 in Bruno, Saskatchewan. She was the only child of Annie Hutmacher and Felix Irmen. She spent many hours visiting her grandmother, Philippina Linde (nee Hutmacher), where she learned her love for knitting, quilting, and cooking. She attended the Ursiline Academy in Bruno for school, which is where she met her future husband Clifford Weiman, when he sat in her desk for Sunday School. He borrowed her pencil and left her a Thank You note, which was the beginning of their lifelong romance.
In 1956, at the age of 18, Marianna married Clifford in Vancouver, BC, where they made their home and started a family. Cheryl was born in 1957, Linda in 1959, Daniel in 1960, and Mark in 1969. During this time Clifford and Marianna were also foster parents to 13 babies.
In 1971 the family moved to Quesnel, BC, where they owned and operated the Northern Lights Inn Motel and Restaurant (now the Caravan Motel). In 1979 they sold the motel, and operated Northern Lights Knit & Notions, where she could share her knowledge and love for knitting.
After closing the wool shop, and Clifford’s retirement from Weldwood of Canada, Marianna & Clifford spent many years working on genealogy, playing cards, listening to music, cooking, baking, and spending quality time with family.
Marianna was a cherished mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend to many. Her kindness, wisdom, and unwavering love will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
She leaves behind a legacy of warmth and compassion that will continue to inspire us.
Marianna will always be in our hearts and forever remembered by her children:

In November of 2021 Marianna moved into Dunrovin Park Lodge, which she considered to be her home, and where the nurses and staff became part of her extended family. They called her their “Puzzle Queen”.
As per her wishes, a private family service will be held to honour her memory.
Marianna will be interred at Tranquility Gardens in the Quesnel Cemetery, in Quesnel, BC.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Dunrovin Park Lodge, 900 St. Laurent Avenue, Quesnel, BC, V2J 3S3, or a charity of your choice.
The family would like to express their heartfelt thanks and sincere gratitude to the nurses and staff of Dunrovin Park Lodge for the years of tender loving care given to Marianna, and to Clayton’s Funeral Directors for their compassion and excellent service.
