Obituary of Harold Wesley Sanderson
It is with great sadness that the family of Harold Wesley Sanderson announces his passing on November 7, 2024. Harold passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family.
Harold was born on November 7, 1955, to Ralph and Virginia in Maple Creek, Saskatchewan. In 1966, Harold moved to Quesnel with his parents and his four younger siblings where he attended Baker Elementary School, Cariboo Junior and went on to graduate from Correlieu Secondary School in 1973.
Harold attended Simon Fraser University and graduated with a degree of Bachelor of Business of Administration in 1983. He was hired by Cariboo Pulp & Paper Company in May of 1985. He continued his studies while raising a young family and became a Certified General Accountant in 1991. He continued work as an accountant at Cariboo Pulp and Paper and retired after 30 years of employment in 2015.
Harold married Dianne (Lanski) on August 28, 1982 and they decided to build their house and life in Quesnel. They raised two children, Erin (Gardner) born in 1987 and Garth in 1989.
More than anything Harold loved spending time with his family and friends. He could always be found in a school gym watching Erin playing basketball or Garth playing volleyball, spent many winters in hockey rinks and summers on the lake tubing and water skiing. Harold was an avid curler from the time he was in high school and thoroughly enjoyed biking, golfing and reading in his free time and into his retirement.
Harold is survived by his wife Dianne, children Erin (Harley) Gardner and Garth, grandchildren Rhett and Hazel Mae (Erin), siblings Eldon (Sarina) Sanderson, Valerie (Daryl) Johannesen, Daryl (Dianne) Sanderson and Maureen (Tony) Richichi, as well as many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. He was predeceased by his parents Ralph and Virginia and sister Rosella.
The family would like to extend a great thank you to the nurses and staff of Quesnel Hospice, Dunrovin Park Lodge and to Dr. Nick Jawanda for his exceptional care.

A Celebration of Life will be held on May 3, 2025 at the Quesnel Curling Club. Interment will follow in June at Piapot Cemetery in Piapot, Saskatchewan.
