Obituary for Lorraine Florence Dorosh (née Krusel)

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Lorraine Florence Dorosh (Krusel), who left us peacefully on November 22, 2024, at the age of 85. Born on October 17, 1939, in Vernon, British Columbia, Lorraine was the youngest of 11 children.

Lorraine was predeceased by her eldest child, Darryle (1963); her devoted husband of 59 years, Kenneth (2017); her parents; and eight of her siblings. She is survived by her loving daughters, Deanne and Donna; her cherished son-in-law, MichaeI; and her beloved granddaughter, Julianna (Owen).

Lorraine married her soulmate, Ken, in 1958 and together they built a life rich with love, laughter, and adventure. They began their journey in Masset, Haida Gwaii, where Ken served in the Royal Canadian Navy and later settled in Prince George, where they raised their family and created a home filled with warmth and joy for over 50 years.

Lorraine's creativity and love for beauty shone through in everything she did. As a florist, she brought beauty to others through her exquisite flower arrangements. Her love for entertaining was evident in the countless gatherings she hosted with friends and family, filled with delicious meals, laughter, and spirited card games. Lorraine spent many years as an active member of the Kinsmen and Kinettes, where she devoted her time to charitable work and building lasting friendships. She had a strong interest in politics and proudly contributed to Elections Canada for several years, ensuring the integrity of the electoral process.

An adventurous spirit, Lorraine loved to travel and explore new places with Ken by her side. They embarked on many travels together but Zihuatanejo, Mexico, was a special place they returned to year after year where they embraced the sun, sea, and the close friendships they formed there. At home, Lorraine enjoyed golfing and tending to her beautiful gardens. Known as the Martha Stewart of her family, she made every celebration -especially Christmas- magical, with her baking, decor, and thoughtful touches leaving treasured memories behind.

Known for her warmth and elegance, she touched the lives of many. Her infectious laughter, impeccable style, and love of rock music showcased her vibrant personality. She absolutely adored animals, especially her dogs, who were constant companions throughout her life.

The family extends heartfelt thanks to the nurses and care workers at Dunroven Lodge and Redwood Residences for their kindness and compassionate care during Lorraine's final years.

Above all, Lorraine's greatest pride and joy were her three girls, whom she loved endlessly and raised to be strong women who march to the beat of their own drums. Her legacy of love, strength, and kindness will continue to live on through them.

Rest in peace, Lorraine. You will be deeply missed and your memory forever cherished.
