Obituary of Norma Lee

It is with profound sadness that we announce our beloved Mum, Norma Lee (nee Jalland) passed away peacefully on December 15, 2024 with her children by her side, at the age of 87, after a brief illness.  Norma was a beautiful, giving woman who devoted her life to caring for the ones she loved.

Norma, an identical twin, and a proud Jewish woman, was born in Bethnal Green, United Kingdom, on April 25, 1937.  In 1969, Mum took a leap of faith and travelled abroad with her young son in hand to start a new life in Canada and married our beloved Father, Walter ‘Richard’ Lee.  In 1972, they relocated from Kitimat, BC to Quesnel, BC where they welcomed the birth of their daughter Andrea in 1973. Mum raised her two children to be independent, hardworking, thoughtful adults.

Norma was pre-deceased by her loving husband of 44 years Walter ‘Richard’ Lee and her identical twin sister Eileen Waker (nee Jalland), both whom sadly passed away within three months of each other in 2013.

Norma is survived by her devoted daughter Andrea Lee (Brad), son Tony Lee (Mary), brother Jack Jalland (United Kingdom) and her furry 4-legged grand babies (Henry, Cali, Gracie and Teaka).

“Mum, for every sacrifice you made, for every heartache you soothed, for every dream you stood behind, I love you so much, forever and always.”

A celebration of life will be held at St John the Divine Anglican Church (Quesnel) in the spring/summer of 2025.

A heartfelt thank you to the nursing and support staff at Maeford Place for providing such a wonderful, inclusive, safe environment for Norma to thrive in.  It’s important to note that Barbara, Kelly, Catrina, Sherry, Paige and many others provided Norma with exceptional care and compassion during her twelve month residency.

Finally, a genuine heart breaking thank you to Dr. Irfan and all the nursing staff on the 3rd floor (Palliative Care) at GR Baker Memorial Hospital in Quesnel, BC for showing Mum such wonderful care and compassion during her final days. And a special note of thanks to Nurse Tammy for showing the family extraordinary empathy and sincere compassion. Your kind words helped Andrea and Tony navigate through their grieving process.

In keeping with Norma’s love of all animals, in lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the SPCA, Crooked Leg Ranch or other animal rescue organization of your choice.
